When Haley was 15, she founded Girl Talk to help her younger sister overcome the challenges of being a young women in middle school. The idea quickly took off, and Haley began to build programs and curriculum for high school girls to mentor middle school girls. The effects of Girl Talk’s mentoring programs are amazing, as Girl Talk’s participants have realized a dramatic increase in academic achievement.
In the 8 years since Haley founded Girl Talk, she’s built the organization to over 30,000 girls in 31 states. Girl Talk is the fast growing mentoring program in the country. They will without a doubt be in all 50 states by the end of 2010.
Haley has also developed online curriculums that help the girls with leadership development, and setting up mentoring programs anywhere in the country. Last year, Girl Talk participants donated a total of over 320,000 hours of community service!

Haley is the real deal! I’m twice her age and she is MY role model. Go figure. If you don’t have Girl Talk in your local school, you really need to see about getting it implemented. It really makes a difference in a community.

I met Haley, Dan, and his brother, Ben yesterday while helping prepare for Girl Talk’s, Project Inside Out next week. Dan, what an awesome concept you have—and kudos for sharing it with other people! Pushing Beyond is an EPIC idea, and definitely worth passing on—(so tell your friends!) Haley is such a positive example; not only to the girls, she works with but to people in general.
