Jon has successfully coupled his passion for education and the Internet to create three web based companies. His first two companies were successfully sold to public companies, and he is now knee deep in his passion project, eduFire.
EduFire is an amazing community of teachers and students who want to learn through online video chat. The platform is extremely easy to use, and with an Ebay like market place teachers are able to set their prices while students can read previous student reviews and comments on each teacher. It’s really a fantastic way to learn, and eduFire has individuals taking and teaching classes from over 100 countries!
Jon has always been a “life long learner” and actually used his first job out of college as a “research project.” He dove into what would soon become his competitor and learned as much as he could while working 40-50 hours a week. He’d then spend 30-40 hours a week in the evenings building the platform for his own venture. I love this idea, and it makes perfect sense. If you have an idea to start a company, go work for the competition and learn as much as you can about how they do things. Start building your business on the side, and once you’ve learned everything you can and are financially ready to make the leap, do it!
