Often described as the “musician’s musician,” Tim Westergren is without a doubt passionate about music. Tim started playing the piano when he was 7 years old, and immediately fell in love. His passion and dedication to music has led him through an amazing journey as a composer, producer, performer, and entrepreneur. When I asked Tim about his passion for music and entrepreneurship his answer was very interesting. He states that being a musician is like being an entrepreneur. You have to deal with all aspects of your business and it makes perfect sense.
With more than 20+ years of experience in the music industry, Tim’s passion and love for music is still burning strong. In 2000, he founded Pandora, an online music radio program that helps create radio stations that play music that the user WANTS to hear. As an avid user myself, I definitely recommend it to everyone.
Interesting thought: I asked Tim if loving music was a requirement to work at Pandora. He answered by saying that while most people at Pandora love music, what’s more important is that the individual loves what they are actually doing at Pandora, whether programming, marketing, or whatever else it may be. I really admire this about Tim and the Pandora team.
