Matt Mullenweg, founder of Automattic and WordPress, is another entrepreneur who’s passionate about music and entrepreneurship, and he’s only 25! WordPress, one of the largest blogging platforms out there (and what this website was built on), was founded by Mullenweg and it’s awesome to say the least!
Talk about impact, WordPress is downloaded 30,000 times EACH DAY! It takes a ton of passion, and dedication to build not only a product, but a community that supports that kind of movement. Matt attributed the community WordPress has built to really helping him through the challenges he’s encourtered, and noted he’s been keen on always hiring those who are smarter then he is in the desired area.
Matt’s passions don’t stop at entrepreneurship (although he started a business card company at a young age), as he’s also an avid blogger, photographer, and loves music. I’m impressed with his ability to not only follow his career passions but personal passions just as successfully. And when asked about influential books, his suggestion was two books by Scott Berkun; Making Things Happen and The Myths of Innovation. Definitely check them out.
