Interview with Jeff Glassman, Co-Founder and President of Fire Island Beer Company

What do real estate, exotic cars, and beer have in common? They are all things that Jeff Glassman is extremely passions about. Jeff started off his career at an upscale home building company to learn more about the real estate markets. Then one day, he saw an exotic car park at the curb where he was walking. Impressed with the car’s beauty, Jeff decided to go talk to the guys who got out. It turned out that the gentlemen driving the car ran a club for individuals who loved exotic cars, and off Jeff went to pursue his love for cars, working for Classic Car Club of Manhattan.

Although successful at CCC, Jeff had always wanted to run his own company, and the itch to jump into the world of entrepreneurship was ever present. He took a vacation down to South America, and on that trip remembered how much fun he and his cousins had growing up on Fire Island in New York. With a love for beer, he and his cousins decided to take the plunge into entrepreneurship and recently launched Fire island Beer Company. In May 2009, they released their first beer, Lighthouse Ale, and it’s AWESOME! Big congrats as well to Jeff and his team, and they just launched their second beer, an IPA, and the responses thus far have been fantastic.

What I really like about Jeff’s story, is that he’s always been following his interests and passions. From real estate, to exotic cars, and now to beer, It’s inspiring to see this young entrepreneur hustle. He clearly loves what he’s doing, and I’m confident you’ll start to see Fire Island Beer showing up at more and more bars and stores in the years to come.
